Background

The Enterprise Application Development (EAD) unit of the Information Technology Services (ITS) is responsible for developing sustainable and affordable IT solutions to meet UNOV/UNODC requirements, also enabling availability of the solutions more generally across the UN Secretariat entities.

Job Purpose and Organizational Context

• The India Technology Hub (ITH/EAD) based in New Delhi forms part of the ITS’s vital delivery pillars. It keeps up with the UN’s revised ICT strategy. As part of this strategy and under the Head – ITH; the Web Developer will work with a team of highly motivated software development professionals on various applications – development, enhancements, management, and deployment tasks.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Within delegated authority, and in close cooperation with the Head – Technology and Solution, the Web Developer will be responsible for the following duties: 
• Work with an agile team to design and develop front-end and back-end solutions. 
• Translating designs and wire-frames into high quality code. 
• Cross-browser and cross-platform front-end web development including HTML, JavaScript, CSS, and the latest technologies. 
• Communicate technical concepts with trade-offs, risks, and benefits. 
• Develop PoC and prototypes for easy-to-navigate user interfaces of webpages with graphics, icons, and color schemes which match industry standards. 
• Integrate with plugins when required, write scripts to automate routines and processes 
• Planning and implementing API integrations with third parties when required 
• Analyze business processes and user requirements 
• Support software implementations and resolve any technical issues 
• Ensure data security and integrity. 
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Experience

Education:

• Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or related field from a recognized university.

Experience:

• A minimum of three (3) years (with a Master’s degree), or a minimum of five (5) years (with a Bachelor’s degree) of relevant experience at the national and/or international level in software development is required.
• Experience in Web Development, PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, CSS, HTML, AJAX, Angular, NodeJS, and Bootstrap is highly desirable.
• Experience in MongoDB and MySQL management is desirable

Langauge:

• Fluency in English and Hindi is Required.
