IFC’s Human Resources (HR) Department provides strategic partnership to the business to develop and implement workforce strategies. The HR department includes three Centers of Expertise (COEs) — Strategy & Organizational Effectiveness, Global Talent Acquisition & Mobility, and Talent & Incentives – and two Client Services teams providing support to HQ and regions.  

IFC Talent Development & Incentives team is seeking a Head of Talent and Leadership Development to create an integrated, business-driven strategy and operating model for talent and performance processes, executive talent development, career pathways, leadership development programs, and other targeted learning experiences for IFC staff. The position will be in Washington, DC, and will report to Manager, Talent Development & Incentives.

Duties and Accountabilities:

  • Lead review and enhanced design and delivery of IFC Talent and Performance Management practices for IFC staff and executive cadre. 
  • Oversee implementation of Leadership for All concept, making leadership capability development options known and available for all staff, managing budget and resources. 
  • Lead continuous enhancement, design, delivery, and evaluation of IFC leadership development solutions aligned with industry best practices and organizational goals.
  • Ensure data and feedback-driven design and delivery of learning interventions, including also targeted learning solutions for specific audiences, such as high-potential women.
  • Lead design and delivery of career planning frameworks and tools, playing a pivotal role in implementing the new career development platform. 
  • Monitor and assess program effectiveness through trend analysis and evaluation methods.
  • Build and maintain relationships, and collaborate closely with senior leaders, HR partners, IFC Corporate Learning Team, World Bank HR Team, and external partners.
  • Stay updated on and bring in trends and best practices in skills development, career management, leadership development, talent and performance management and learning.
  • Establish feedback mechanisms and quality control standards and identify areas for improvement.
  • Provide guidance and leadership for the team supporting the described work programs, fostering a collaborative culture within the team and beyond. 

Selection Criteria

  • Master’s degree with 12 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong understanding of executive talent management practices, including executive onboarding, talent reviews, succession planning, learning and development strategies, performance management, and talent acquisition.
  • Strategic thinking to align career management, learning, leadership development, and talent management concepts and initiatives with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Experience in coordinating and managing learning programs and portfolio, and proficiency in developing and implementing tailored learning solutions, frameworks, and support systems for specific employee groups or cohorts within the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to inspire, lead, manage, and coach teams – with or without authority.
  • Strong project management, coordination, engagement, and influencing skills across teams– and ability/willingness to produce deliverables oneself.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively present concepts and ideas to diverse audiences, including senior leaders.
  • Track record of effectively collaborating and building relationships with key stakeholders, including e.g. staff, management, HR teams, other stakeholders and vendors.
  • Strong program planning, project management, quality control, change management and engagement skills.
  • Proficiency in initiating and deriving key data insights and utilizing metrics to inform decision-making and drive continuous improvement of talent programs.
  • Good understanding of IFC business, strategy and organization is a plus.
