Aim of the position: The gravity of the humanitarian and security context in Lebanon require a flexible and engaged team that allow a rapid, qualitative and comprehensive response to the needs of the most vulnerable population in the shortest time. AVSI in collaboration with different donors is implementing an integrated response in the sectors of WASH, Basic Assistance, Protection, Child Protection and Education in Emergency.
The situation is in rapid evolution then the response team requires to be supported by staff with different skills and with a good experience in working in complicated environments and emergency contexts.
Main tasks and responsibilities: Under the direct supervision of the Country Representative (Responsible for the coordination of the overall AVSI response), the Emergency response team unit is composed by different profiles according to the need of the emergency response. These could span from Project managers to logistics, or Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) and Administrative staff.
AVSI will collect all availabilities and will contact the most suitable candidate according to the needs.
The most suitable candidate:
• Demonstrates integrity by modelling the AVSI’s values and ethical standards;
• Promotes the vision, mission, and strategic goals of AVSI;
• Actively works towards continuing personal learning and development in one or more Practice Areas, acts on learning plan and applies newly acquired skills.
Essential Requirements
- Education: University degree preferably in Political or social Sciences, International relations, Development, Humanitarian Aid, Project Management, or other related areas or professional experience equivalent to the required level.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years’ experience in emergency management and operations, humanitarian response and multisectoral programming.
- Language: Fluency in English is required; French and Italian are added value.
Required skills and experiences
- Capacity to work under pressure, manage stress and adapt to rapidly evolving situations;
Ability to lead strategic planning, results-based management and reporting; - Ability to lead formulation and monitoring of management projects;
- Solid knowledge in financial resources and human resources management, contract, asset and procurement, information and communication technology, general administration;
- Ability to lead effectively, mentoring as well as conflict resolution skills;
- Proven networking, team-building and organizational skills;
- Sound time management and organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks;
- Demonstrates strong oral and written communication skills;
- Solid expertise in liaising with local and senior administration and national and international counterparts;
- Niche training in emergency management; specific training in humanitarian response;
- Good skills in Microsoft Office software applications; Excellent presentation skills.
