Job description

 

The German Federal Foreign Office and the European Union Delegation to The Gambia have commissioned GIZ to provide technical assistance to the Gambia Police Force (GP. The programme aims to strengthen GPF’s institutional and individual capacities, focusing on crime prevention and victim protection, forensics, and national and regional networking. In addition, it supports GPF through training, equipment , and infrastructural enhancement. As part of a new EU cofinancing programme, six police stations will be constructed.

 

Your tasks

 

  • Assisting the project management with planning, implementation and evaluation of project activities
  • Participation in the conception and implementation of different project approaches
  • Network development and support, as well as participation in events
  • Assistance with knowledge management and monitoring of the project.

Your profile

 

  • University student who recently completed his/her studies (not more than six monthand/or has studied for at least three academic semesters and has (vergood grades
  • Proficiency in written and oral English is a key requirement. Knowledge of German and/or Wollof, Mandinka, or Fula is an advantage
  • Practical experience in an international professional context, including with a development cooperation agency or a civil society organization is an advantage
  • We are looking for someone with a strong interest in peace and conflict, particularly with a focus on SGBV in Africa. Your passion for this field is highly respected and acknowledged.
  • Ability to work independently and flexibly in an intercultural team with solid skills such as reliability, discretion and high motivation
  • Structured work style with a high degree of selforganization, creativity and strong communication, presentation and facilitation skills
  • Willingness to work and reside in the Greater Banjul area, with frequent duty trips to rural districts
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams etc.)
