Job Summary

The MotherCare project specifically addresses the needs of pregnant women and new mothers, as they are at the frontline of vulnerabilities posed by elevated temperatures in Basra and Ninewa. Pregnant women are susceptible to several types of complications at all stages of the pregnancy—which include both physiological changes and risk of birth defects such as cardiovascular, respiratory or kidney diseases. Displacement also exacerbates these vulnerabilities, increasing the risks faced by already marginalized communities. Recognizing the urgency of the situation, this project adopts a health-focused approach, prioritizing the delivery of essential healthcare, support, and community resilience-building initiatives.

Duration of Contract: 1st November 2024 until 30th June 2025

Responsibilities:

  • Organising and conducting Health and Climate change education-related sessions for the targeted community of Al-Batool Hospital and nearby areas.
  • The Health topics will include Sexual, Reproductive, and Maternal Health (Ante-Natal CARE, Post-Natal Care, Family Planning, and Breastfeeding).
  • Provide regular feedback about the impact of the Health activities on the targeted beneficiaries to the Community Health Workers Team Leader and to the Health Assistant.
  • Regularly share photos of the awareness activities with the beneficiaries and consent forms when requested.
  • Ensure regular daily data entry for Health and climate change activities using the KOBO system and hard copies.
  • Any other assignment as requested by the Community Health Worker Team Leader, Health Program Assistant 

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

  • Graduated Successfully from a High School, College, or institution.
  • Written & Verbal proficiency in the Arabic language.
  • Preferably to have one year of experience working in similar positions in Mosul and know how to work on the KOBO system.
  • Preferable to be living in West Mosul (Mosul City Right Bank).
  • Female candidates are preferable since CARE is working in a Gynecological Hospital.
