Duration: 5 months full time from 1 November 2024. Maximum budget will be £20,000 inclusive of VAT, depending on experience.
Location: Home-based with meetings in London and other travel possible

Topline: We want someone to oversee development and implementation of strategic projects, to support member engagement, and our Communities of Practice, and support implementation planning for refreshed strategy from 2025.

The CDAC Secretariat are a fully remote team that currently uses MS teams and Zoom for day-to-day communication, and a range of digital tools including Asana, Miro, and Google Workspace. We work flexibly with face-to-face meetings arranged quarterly.

Job purpose

We want someone ready to boost the Secretariat capacity in various ways for this period, and to support our members, project teams, and consultants closely. You’ll provide technical support and troubleshooting, help us get new work up and running well, and develop an implementation plan for the refreshed CDAC Network Strategy in the new year drawing these efforts together cohesively and setting us up to achieve impact in line with our values.

What we’re looking for:

Individuals with solid project management experience, confident at both hands-on delivery and strategic discussions, ideally with operational experience in crisis settings. You’ll understand the challenges of shifting power and increasing accountability and community agency within the aid sector. You’ll be used to working flexibly in a small team and confidently engaging a variety of stakeholders, including donors. You’ll be sector-savvy, able to work at pace across various activities with a strong attention to detail and delivery. Ideally, you’d be ready to start work asap.

Key areas of responsibility

The role is focused on project management and planning, CDAC representation, convening and member engagement. The role is the primary focal point for CDAC project teams and members, ensuring a responsive service, including on member-only events, convenings, newsletters, strategic collaborations. While the work will vary and be led by member demands and strategic opportunities, we will certainly need you to:

  • Support delivery of our annual meeting and activities already in the diary, online and in person, including communities of practice, training, and workshops.
  • Provide support to key projects ongoing at country and global level, monitoring implementation rates and producing donor reporting. Provide technical support to project teams remotely or on-site. Lead on risk management, donor compliance and reporting. Assist with the recruitment of expert pool consultants as relevant. Work with suppliers to deliver key outputs. Support new proposal development.
  • Oversee the creation, updating, and monitoring of CDAC training and consulting engagements — to ensure smooth execution and timely delivery.
  • Produce a workplan to guide implementation of our refreshed strategy, including MEAL components from the outset.

Person specification

Essential

  • At least 8 years’ experience in relevant project management (e.g. communication and engagement, citizen participation), with degree or professional experience.
  • Proven knowledge of supporting an overall project portfolio and MEAL resulting in well-defined and achievable workplans, strategies and analysis
  • Excellent communication and inter-personal skills in support of collaborating with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.

Desired

  • Experience in our priority thematic areas (communication, communicating with communities in crises, accountability to affected populations, shifting power within aid sector, harmful information in crises, opportunities and implications of technology advancements on crisis affected communities) preferred but not essential.
  • Second language an advantage
  • Demonstrated understanding of different data collection methodologies.
  • Experience with handling confidential/personal data.
