IRC Yemen started its programs in October 2012. It has grown from a small project to handling large-scale emergency and relief operations in the South of Yemen, specifically in Aden. After the war in Yemen in March 2015, IRC launched an emergency response program in Aden, Lahj, Abyan, Shabwah, and Aldalea. Currently, IRC Yemen operates in eight governoratesincluding Sana’a and Hodeidah in the North through direct programming and local partnerships, focusing on Health, WASH, Nutrition, Economic Recovery Development, Education, Child Protection, Gender, and Women Protection and Empowerment.
The IRC has been working in the MENA region for over 40 years, with 2,200 staff supporting those affected by complex humanitarian crises in Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Syria, and Yemen
SCOPE OF WORK:
IRC is in search of a motivated candidate to coordinate and lead the day-to-day operations of the CHN components in the Health & Nutrition program, ensuring timely and impactful execution.
JOB SUMMARY:
The CHN Officer will lead community-based Health and Nutrition programs, including maternal and neonatal healthcare. They will oversee quality community-based Nutrition and healthcare services at the field level. The Officer will implement action plans, supervise field staff, and prepare reports for the H&N manager. They will also provide technical leadership and ensure the quality of services in targeted facilities and communities in Hodeida Governorate. The Officer will coordinate with local authorities and key partners for smooth program implementation.
WORKING RELATIONS:
- Regular & open communication on day-to-day tasks with HN manager, field coordinator and technical managers.
- Work internally with: Health & Nutrition program team, Program quality and support teams.
- Work externally with: CHVs, CMWs, HFs manager, DHO manager and GHO officials.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist the Manager in implementing activities for CHVs and CMWs, including developing work plans, reports, and budget forecasts.
- Follow the activity plan, standard processes, and MOH protocols for health service delivery.
- Conduct on-job training for community midwives, volunteers, and other staff during service delivery when requested to do so.
- Supporting the Coordination efforts with health authorities, community leaders and other implementing partners and representing IRC in relevant health clusters, coordination, and technical meetings.
- Provided program updates, discussed challenges, and collaborated on program design with the HN manager.
- Collect and use field report formats on time, follow up, and finalize reports promptly. Provide support and mentorship to address issues and improve performance.
- Maintain detailed CHVs program activities records and up-to-date paperwork both in soft and hard copies and provide activity reports once required by IRC and the donor timely.
- Procurement Planning and follow-up and coordinate the delivery of the basic program-supported items to the CHVs and CMWs.
- Collaborates with CHVs to strategize, coordinate, and implement community mobilization activities and integrate them with health and nutrition programs at health facilities.
- Coordinate and facilitate the CHVs’ work in the community for identification and referral of suspected cases of malnutrition.
- Leading awareness-raising and promotion activities at HFs and community levels.
- Conduct regular follow-up field visits to support and coordinate program activities implementation at the targeted areas.
- Collect timesheets and prepare the incentive payment document every month.
- Carry out any other responsibilities as requested by the line manager.
- Promote and actively participate in initiatives and efforts to establish team engagement, inclusion, and cohesion in IRC [team/office]
- Develop ongoing learning, transparent dialogue, and reflection to strengthen safeguarding and promote IRC values and adherence to IRC policies.
Minimum Qualifications:
REQUIREMENTS: (Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities):
A.Education:
·Health professional: Nurse, Midwife, or any related medical field background.
B.Experience:
·A minimum of 2 years of professional experience in community health and nutrition programming is required. (INGO experience is an asset)
C.Skills and Abilities:
- Highly motivated self-starter who is a teammate, but also works independently.
- Works productively with team members to achieve results.
- Experience of a flexible approach to managing and priorities a high workload and multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to take initiative where appropriate to handle the difficulties encountered in daily work and Ability to conduct work in a professional and wise manner.
- The tolerance to work in remote and insecure environments.
- Experience of working in networks and building strong working relationships with a range of partners.
D.Proficiencies:
·Fluent in written and spoken English Preferred and have a good working skill in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and the internet)
·Good interpersonal and representative skills (written, oral, cross – cultural)
