Position description

An opportunity has arisen for an Associate to direct the Security Advisory practice in the UKIMEA Resilience, Security & Risk team.  

You will partner with local subject matter experts, resilience, security & risk peers along with design team members. The candidate will work with clients to understand and address security risks, creating sustainable and innovative solutions to address security risk, and will assist in the development of world-class capabilities in Arup’s Resilience, Security & Risk team and the region including staffing, processes, tools and frameworks.  The role will see you develop and implement the strategic direction for our Security Advisory service offerings.   

As part of your role, you will develop the pipeline of fee-earning work necessary to deliver the security advisory operating plan, act as technical authority/project director for security advisory projects and provide direction of the team with duty for line management, management of performance and career development of members.

Is this role right for you?
 
The successful candidate will be a well-credentialled, technically excellent and inspiring leader. You will possess a qualification in security risk management, political science, international relations, organisational resilience, disaster risk management or an engineering discipline.
 

We are seeking the following:

  • Professional qualification with a relevant recognised body e.g. Register of Security Engineers and Specialists (RSES), Chartered Security Professional (CSyP) or Chartered Management Consultant (ChMC)
  •  A track record in professional services consultancy, with skills in developing opportunities, a strong win-rate in conversion to fee-earning commissions, excellence in all parts of client delivery and success in growing client accounts through repeat commissions
  •  Excellent stakeholder management and people leadership skills and the ability to work in an ambiguous, complex environment with multiple stakeholders
  • Recognised as a subject-matter with an interest in applying your skills across a broad range of tasks and projects, working in collaboration with many different specialists
  • The ability to convey complex technical information and concepts clearly and to all levels of an organisation – with a particular focus on conveying information to non-experts and excellence in report-writing, oral communication and visual presentation skills.
  • Data analysis skills, system mapping and risk assessment, underpinned by strong numerical skills including expertise in use of Microsoft Excel and PowerBI or similar
  • An understanding of design of engineering infrastructure and systems. 
     

Experience of, or interest in, some of the following would be beneficial: business operations; economics; organisational change management; climate resilience and sustainable development; energy systems; data visualisation, logistics and process mapping.
