JOB DESCRIPTION

Danish Refugee Council, one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, is currently looking for a highly qualified Finance Assistant- Accountant for Asia & Europe Regional Office, who can effectively support in day-to-day, monthly accounting and support to Finance Function for Bangkok Office and other offices within the region as required.

ABOUT THE JOB

Under the supervision of Regional Finance Manager,the position makes an important contribution to supporting financial control & compliance, bank & cash balance management, and ensures that accounting practice is performed in compliance with DRC policies and procedures and donor regulations and as per legislation of Thailand. Your main responsibilities will be:

Finance and Accounting

  • Daily accounting (bookkeeping) according to DRC financial handbook.
  • Manage petty cash and clear cash advances upon request.
  • Prepare monthly cash counts.
  • Maintain proper filing of all financial documentation (vouchers, contracts, tender documents, etc.).
  • Cash Box counting according to the financial handbook.
  • Transferring payments when needed and follows up with partners’ reports.
  • Follows a given work plan.
  • Routine record keeping.
  • Correctly use DRC Dynamics functionalities in area of concern.

Transfers and Payments

  • Ensure all payments are made timely and in accordance with DRC procedure.
  • Ensure all payments meet requirements of National Law and engage with authorities, tax advisors or other stakeholders to ensure tax requirements are met accordingly.
  • Maintain tax registry for all payments made by DRC in Thailand for tax reconciliation purpose.
  • Ensure that payment documents comply with DRC internal financial procedures and donor regulations.
  • Ensure proper transfer of funds from DRC HQ in Copenhagen to Thai Bank account.

Accounting

  • Ensure all expenses enter the DRC Dynamics in time and of highest quality.
  • Ensure to update cashbooks on a daily basis to reflect the actual status of existing cash count and bank balance in all currencies.
  • Ensure all bank accounts statements are reconciled.
  • Ensure proper filing system for financial documents.
  • Prepare the monthly withholding tax forms (PNG. 1, 3, 53 and 54) and submit the report to the revenue department to meet the monthly deadlines.
  • Prepare documents and deposits in social security fund on regular basis.
  • Review accrual/prepayment must have sufficient supporting documents.
  • Prepare documents and records for the audit as requested.

ABOUT YOU

To be successful in this role we expect you to have a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience. Also experience with carrying out financial admin tasks. Moreover, we also expect the following:

REQUIRED

  • Good communication skills both in Thai and English.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel.
  • Basic proficiency in PowerPoint and Word.
  • Well-developed organizational and planning skills in order to meet deadlines.
  • NGO experience.

EDUCATION

Diploma or equivalent professional qualification in business administration or accounting.
