What we do
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) works worldwide to provide humanitarian assistance to people affected by conflict and armed violence. We take action in response to emergencies and, at the same time, promote respect for international humanitarian law. We are an independent and neutral organization, and our mandate stems essentially from the Geneva Conventions of 1949. We work closely with the National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and with their International Federation in order to ensure a concerted, rational and rapid humanitarian response to the needs of the victims of armed conflict or any other situation of internal violence. We direct and coordinate the international activities conducted in these situations.
Purpose of the position
The Manager QMS and LEAN ensures the Quality Management System of the Logistics’ division is effectively implemented and drives its evolution as per the QMS roadmap. The manager is responsible for establishing a culture of continuous improvement based on LEAN principles, by developing and deploying best practice tools, methods and processes that reduce waste, promote data-driven decision making, and robust problem solving. This role also ensures the effective coordination, monitoring, and reporting on projects and change initiatives, supporting strategic alignment and successful implementation though relevant change management activities. Accountabilities & Functional responsibilities
- Accountable for the effective and efficient execution of the Quality Management System components implemented, as per the QMS roadmap for the Logistics division.
- In close collaboration with the QSHE experts and the management of the division, defines the roadmap for the evolution of the QMS.
- Responsible for the implementation of the QMS roadmap accross the division.
- Trains and coaches migration to a continuous improvement culture based on Lean Management and Output Based Performance principles.
- Serves as the Subject Matter Expert in problem solving techniques and process evaluation.
- Accountable for the coordination, planning and sequencing of the division’s project portfolio, supporting the Head of Division and the Business Process Owners in identifying the division’s priorities.
- Liaises on behalf of the division with organizational bodies or boards overseeing project delivery such as Project Management Office, Technology and Data Board, etc.
- Implements communication and change management frameworks to ensure effective adoption of change initiatives.
- Manages a multidisciplinary team working across Learning and Development, Knowledge Management and Communications, as well as project or program managers.
- Process Owner for the clusters of Change Control, Project Portfolio Management, Communication, and Knowledge Management.
- Collaborates closely with all units, Business Process Owners, and other key stakeholders to ensure strategic alignment across the division.
Professional experience and skills required
- Postgraduate qualification in public administration, business administration, project management.
- At least 10 years relevant experience with at least 5 years as a QMS manager with Change Management skills.
- Familiar with ISO standards, knowledge of GDP an important asset.
- Proven track record in continuous improvement using LEAN, typically black belt.
- Certification in project portfolio management, e.g., Management of Portfolios (MoP), an asset.
- Certification in change management, e.g., Prosci, an asset.
- Written and verbal fluency of English, French being an asset
- Good command of Microsoft Office and SharePoint.
