Background
The Iraqi Institution for Development (IID) is seeking an experienced Trainer to deliver a 3-day capacity-building training focused on enhancing the communication, reporting, and data management skills of front-line staff from IID and its local partners. The training aims to build core competencies in program communication, M&E, data entry and analysis, and reporting styles while focusing on essential management skills, outreach, and community engagement.
Key Objectives:
- Equip front-line staff with essential, practical management skills.
- Enhance understanding and application of M&E principles, data entry techniques, and data analysis.
- Strengthen staff capabilities in using professional communication methods, including email and reporting styles.
- Improve staff competency in outreach, data collection, and community engagement.
- Develop skills for drafting clear and concise reports tailored to various audiences, including stakeholders, line managers, government, and official correspondence.
- Review and ensure staff understanding of the main IID’s organizational policies, roles, and responsibilities.
Training Schedule Overview:
Day 1: Program Communication and M&E Basics
- Morning Session:
- Introduction & Objectives: Overview of the training goals and their alignment with IID’s project objectives.
- Program Communication Skills: Techniques for effective program communication, active listening, message clarity, and team communication strategies.
- Afternoon Session:
- M&E Basics: Introduction to key M&E concepts, data collection methods, and tools for tracking progress and results.
Day 2: Data Entry, Analysis, and Reporting Styles
- Morning Session:
- Data Entry & Management: Practical training on data entry techniques using simple data collection tools and software, emphasizing accuracy and consistency.
- Data Analysis: Introduction to basic data analysis methods to help staff draw insights from collected data and use it to inform program decisions.
- Afternoon Session:
- Reporting Styles: Hands-on session on drafting reports for various audiences, including:
- Weekly and Monthly Reports for internal stakeholders and line managers.
- Government Reports focusing on compliance and project outcomes.
- Official Letters: Structure and best practices for formal communication with government bodies and external stakeholders.
Day 3: Email Guidance and Wrap-Up
- Morning Session:
- Email Guidance: Best practices for professional email communication, including clear subject lines, concise content, and appropriate follow-up etiquette.
- Final Wrap-Up & Q&A: Summary of key learnings, discussion on remaining questions, and providing tools for continued development.
Trainer Responsibilities:
The selected trainer will be responsible for the following:
- Training Delivery:
- Facilitate a 3-day training program, ensuring engagement and practical learning outcomes for participants.
- Develop comprehensive session plans, presentations, and training materials relevant to the topics.
- Prepare pre- and post-tests to evaluate participant knowledge and progress.
- Provide a final report summarizing key outcomes, feedback, and recommendations for further capacity-building efforts.
- Maintain attendance records for all participants.
- Capture optional photos/videos of the training sessions, if applicable, free of cost.
Deliverables:
- Detailed training materials and session plans for approval before the training.
- A final report summarizing participant feedback, key outcomes, and recommendations for further capacity-building activities.
- Pre and post-tests to evaluate participant knowledge and learning progress.
- Attendance sheets to record participant engagement throughout the training.
- Copy of the training curriculum, to be shared with IID.
- Photos/videos of the training sessions, if applicable, free of cost (optional).
Application Requirements:
Interested trainers should submit:
- Trainer CV: Highlighting relevant experience in capacity-building, training, and facilitation.
- Proposal: Explanation of the approach to training delivery, highlighting how it will benefit front-line staff and improve overall management capacity.
- Curriculum Outline: A practical curriculum breakdown including session objectives, key topics, and methodologies.
- Training Cost Support: Separate detailed budget proposal for delivering the training in Mosul or Erbil, indicating the location for which the trainer is applying.
Selection Criteria:
- Quality of Technical Proposal (70%): Evaluated based on the comprehensiveness of the curriculum, relevance to front-line staff, and trainer’s experience.
- Experience and References (30%): Trainer’s proven track record in delivering similar trainings and positive feedback from past clients.
