Position description
Muon seeks a Head of Government Affairs to join our GTM Team and drive growth in our government-focused business areas. The Head of Government Affairs reports to the President and collaborates closely with Muon Space’s GTM Teams and CEO. The ideal candidate is an experienced, dynamic, energetic and practical “doer” that balances good strategic insight and planning with a “roll up the sleeves and pound the payment” tenaciousness and pragmatism.

Responsibilities
- Position the company to drive and scale repeatable federal revenue growth
- Develop and implement multi-year shaping and engagement strategy for Congress in partnership with President, CEO and GTM team
- Partner with GTM team to identify business opportunities that require GovAffairs support and shaping efforts
- Develop and maintain trusted relationships with government officials, legislators, and regulatory agencies to advance the organization’s interests and advocate for favorable policies
- Monitor legislative and regulatory proposals at the local, state, and federal levels, and provide in-depth analysis of their potential impact on the organization.
- Support the unique coalitions Muon builds, for example in our Wildfire initiative, in which state governments and aligned philanthropies apply Muon’s technology to social impact missions
- Collaborate with industry associations, advocacy groups, and other stakeholders to build coalitions and alliances that amplify the organization’s advocacy efforts
- Manage external LegAffairs/GovAffairs consultants and advisors
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in political science, public policy, government / international relations, science, engineering or mathematics.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in government affairs, lobbying, or a related role, with a strong understanding of the legislative and regulatory process.
- In-depth knowledge of relevant policy issues and a demonstrated ability to analyze and communicate complex policy matters.
- Proven ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with government officials, policymakers, and industry stakeholders.
- Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop and execute effective government affairs strategies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly and persuasively communicate the organization’s positions to diverse audiences, including the ability to explain complex technical material to a lay audience in a compelling manner.
- Knowledge of the federal government, in particular civil (e.g NASA, NOAA) as well as DoD and IC (POM/ NDAA, IPPBE & PPBE)
- Energy and willingness to “roll up your sleeves” is absolutely essential!
Nice-to-have Skills
- Experience in philanthropy and / or non-government organizations (NGO’s)
- Background or education in a technical field such as engineering, physics, math, computer science or similar
Salary
The salary range for this role is $150K- 250K and will depend on a candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience as defined during the interview process.
