The opportunity

Working within the Cancer Information and Support Services division, you will be responsible for providing evidence-based psychological care and support to cancer clients and their families, through assessing their needs and referring them to the appropriate Cancer Council WA and other community support services.

This role is integral to building the awareness of Cancer Council WA services and maintaining our presence in the Peel region community.
Based in the Peel region (Greenfields), this position is part-time (0.4 FTE).

What you’ll be doing:

  • Coordinating the delivery of evidence-based psychosocial support services and programs in accordance with policies and procedures and ensuring they continue to meet the needs of our clients
  • Collaborating and involvement in the review and improvement of current programs and developing initiatives under the guidance of the Cancer Support Services Manager
  • Improving awareness of Cancer Council WA services and maintaining presence in the Peel community
  • Assisting with the volunteer management or in the absence of a Centre Coordinator, working with the People and Culture team to recruit, onboard and support volunteers
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Representing Cancer Council WA at appropriate events, seminars and other events

About you

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A tertiary qualification in a health-related field (e.g., nursing, allied health, social work) and current registration with nationally recognised peak body.
  • Experience in client psychological assessment with appropriate problem-solving and analytic skills
  • Knowledge about cancer prevention, screening, risk factors and early detection, will be well-regarded
  • Experience in oncology or palliative care will be well-regarded
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with well-developed relationship management and communication skills
  • High level of computer skills with competency in Microsoft Office Suite and databases
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team as well as the ability to work independently
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the values of Cancer Council WA
