About this Position
The Machine Learning Engineer will support the Data & Insights team in the enterprise design and implementation of new data, reporting and analytical products and services across the organisation.
The role
This role will play an important part in establishing the core foundations of advanced analytical solutions such as Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing and Artificial Intelligence. It will also support the wrangling, curation, and assessment of Beyond Blue data for use in analytical use cases and support the evaluation and application of data science methodologies.
The key responsibilities include:
- Develop, maintain, and enhance machine learning applications.
- Design and document briefs for data science initiatives including sourcing, cleaning, transformation, and processing rules.
- Stand up cloud services to run ML workflows and establish automated repeatable routines.
- Evaluate data for testing and supporting advanced analytical use cases such as ML, AI & NLP.
- Ensure data is handled within existing standards, policies, procedures, industry best practices.
- Monitor data platform resource utilisation ensuring compute is not in excess or compromised through unmanaged analytical experimentation.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, analysts, developers, and other IT professionals to understand the requirements and needs of various projects and initiatives.
- Utilise and follow MLOps practices including managing code repositories and CI/CD processes.
- Explore and analyse data in documented and repeatable ways and support the development of testing criteria for analytical outcomes.
- Enterprise partnerships with all service and program areas requiring data management and insights reporting solutions.
- Supporting Enterprise Data Governance to ensure conformance to security and privacy by design principles to protect the community and the respective data.
About you
To be successful you will hold:
- Degree in computer science, information systems, digital or related field.
- Demonstrated experience in similar analytical, engineering, or data science roles.
- Practical experience designing and building ML, NLP or Artificial Intelligence solutions.
- Experience working with Databricks or similar notebook based development tools such as Jupyter.
- Skills in programming languages and frameworks such as Python, SQL, Spark, R.
- Proficiency in data visualisation, storytelling, and reporting tools, such as Power BI or similar.
- Experienced in a cloud technology stack preferably Azure services – ADF, ADLS, Databricks.
- Ability to search and evaluate the best tool for a range of technical problems.
- Experience working in research-based projects documenting evidence based outcomes.
- Ability to build relationships and coordinate business problems into data solutions with internal and external stakeholders.
The following are desirable:
- Experience working with Data Lakehouse using Azure Databricks and open-source Delta Lake.
- Certifications in Databricks and/or AI/ML related technologies.
- Knowledge and delivery of data governance principles and DMBOK framework
- Experience delivering in Agile SCRUM projects
