About the Program
The Youth Using Violence (YUV) program is dedicated to providing trauma-responsive interventions for young people aged 10-21 who exhibit violent behaviours. The program focuses on educating participants about anger management, conflict resolution, and the consequences of violence, aiming to equip them with the skills necessary for healthier interactions.
About the Role
As a Senior Practitioner, you will implement and deliver a comprehensive behaviour change intervention for young people exhibiting violent behaviours. You will work closely with clients to provide guidance, support, and education in areas such as anger management and conflict resolution.
This role is a Full-Time 24-Month Fixed-Term Contract working 38 hours per week based at our Toowoomba service. Contract Ending August 2026.
Pay Rate: $49.28 per/hr – SCHADS Award Level 5
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the behaviour change program, serving as the lead facilitator for the KIND intervention.
- Conduct risk assessments and safety planning while building therapeutic alliances with young people.
- Provide supervision and support to Practitioners, enhancing their capacity and engaging stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate client records and ensure compliance with data collection and reporting requirements.
- Participate in performance monitoring and evaluation, ensuring service targets are met.
- Demonstrate strong organizational and time management skills in all administrative tasks.
- Promote and work within the service framework that values diversity, self-determination, and social justice.
- Assist in implementing quality practice enhancements and evidence-based innovations.
- Conduct ongoing safety and risk assessments, identifying strategies to minimize risk.
- Foster positive relationships within the team and participate in staff meetings to enhance collaboration.
Qualifications, Credentials and Other Requirements:
- Degree in Psychology, Counselling or Social Work, with relevant professional registration or eligibility.
- Current National Police Check
- Current Blue Card (Working with Children Check)
- Queensland Driver Licence and reliable vehicle.
- Willingness to work outside standard hours and travel within the service region as needed.
About You:
- Proven ability to engage and empower young people and families.
- Experience with behaviour change interventions related to domestic violence.
- Strong communication skills and capability to work within a team.
- Knowledge of trauma impacts and motivational interviewing techniques.
- Ability to assess risks and collaborate effectively with stakeholders.
