About the job
As our new colleague, you will help drive key regulatory developments in the automotive sector related to sustainability and circularity. You will lead member working groups to reach shared positions, lead on content development for our flagship sustainability event and help prepare international meetings with technical experts and external stakeholders. Your support will be key for CLEPA’s participation in sectoral initiatives related to sustainability in supply chains, such as the Responsible Supply Chain Initiative and Drive+.
Our ideal candidate is an experienced material engineer, environmental or sustainability manager with solid technical expertise and interests in chemical regulations.
The scope of activities will be tailored based on the background of the candidate and needs of the organisation but will include the following topics: materials & substances, circularity & sustainability, environmental compliance (REACH, IMDS, PFAS) and eco-design. You will collaborate with team members working on files related or adjacent to sustainability, as well as experts from leading automotive suppliers.
The main tasks include:
- Monitor and analyse policy developments related to environmental compliance, sustainability and circularity (e.g. End of Life Vehicle Regulation, REACH, Battery Regulation);
- Facilitate, prepare and coordinate expert discussions to facilitate implementation of regulatory requirements as well as the formulation of policy asks;
- Help develop and communicate the Association’s positions to inform institutions and other stakeholders;
- Help maintain good relations with government representatives and institutions such as the European Commission, EU Member States Representations and United Nations;
- Support and facilitate the daily organisation of the CLEPA team and various working/expert groups.
Desired profile
- Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience;
- University degree in Materials/Chemicals/Environmental science/Sustainability Management or another academic degree with relevant work experience;
- Good verbal and written communication skills in English (additional knowledge of other languages is a plus);
- Team player with ability to support groups in a consensus-oriented way;
- Pro-active, positive, enthusiastic self-motivating attitude;
- Availability to travel on short trips mostly within the EU.
