Responsible and challenging
AGIAMONDO e.V. is the personnel service of German Catholics for development cooperation. In the Civil Peace Service, we offer professionals the opportunity for meaningful service in cooperation with local development actors. The Civil Peace Service (ZFD) is a personnel program for violence prevention and peacebuilding in crisis and conflict regions. It is committed to a world in which conflicts are resolved without violence. Together with church and civil society partner organizations in Timor Leste, AGIAMONDO aims to make a contribution to civil conflict resolution and sustainable, equitable development in the country through peace-building measures.
AGIAMONDO’s CPS country program has been contributing to a non-violent and constructive reconciliation process in Sri Lanka since 2018, in particular through inter-religious dialogues and dealing with the past. The focus is on the plantation sector, which employs highly marginalized Hill Country Tamils. This community is still one of the most discriminated and marginalized groups in Sri Lanka.
They work under the direction of the Executive Director of the National Caritas Association of Sri Lanka – SEDEC and in close cooperation with the Caritas dioceses. Their work combines project support within the SEDEC structure with regular trips to the marginalized plantation communities in the mountain and tea regions of Sri Lanka to implement innovative projects to strengthen the rights and resources of the communities there.
