Org. Setting and Reporting
This post is located in the Acquisition Management Unit, Supply Chain Management Service of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS). The Acquisition Management Unit coordinates the Mission’s demand planning, development, and management of the acquisition process for various services and commodities while considering suitable sourcing options, including global and regional systems contracts, local market conditions, logistics forecasting, determining inventory management policies, supply schedules, and prioritization of operational supply chain requirement. The Data Analysis Assistant reports directly to the Chief Acquisition Management Unit.
Responsibilities
Within delegated authority, Data Analysis Assistants will be responsible for the following duties: • Provides full range of data analysis at all phases of acquisition planning and of the currently used ERPs: Supply Chain Planning Tool (SCPT) and Business Planning and Consolidation (BPC), focusing on mission critical aspects such as inter alia: blocked or incorrect PIDs, inaccurate demand forecasting, inventory holdings, historical consumption trends, price alerts, net demand and sourcing, contracts availability, etc. • Designs and implements Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for end-to-end acquisition data management and process. • Serves as a focal point for coordination, monitoring and expedition of acquisition planning, SCPT and BPC data analysis activity, involving liaison with diverse parts of the organization to request data and to communicate data needs to other parts of the mission (Procurement, Technical Units, etc.). Follows-up on requests made by other team members and coordinates activities. • Maintains specific information products in their area and assists more senior staff in providing information products to others. • Develops and implements continuous improvement plans to enhance the accuracy and compliance of SCPT data. Collaborate with technical units (TUs) to streamline data entry processes and improve data quality • Assists in drafting correspondence and communications related to all aspects of data analysis, including information on available data sets, data catalogs and data analysis, revisions and other related issues, as well as preparing unit contributions for a variety of periodic reports. • Provides risk assessments and recommend solutions to address potential challenges, ensuring a strategic approach to acquisition and procurement processes. • Track and trace shopping carts and purchase orders, maintaining real-time visibility on end-to-end acquisition data; creates reports on the Acquisition Plan implementation. • Liaise with HQ focal points regarding SCPT integration and data issues, providing feedback on software development and systems improvements. • Assists with the provision of advice on how data can be utilized to improve decision making within the knowledge domain. • Assists with search for approaches and methods that will lead to innovative data products. • Assists with preparation of data products related to data analysis activities; drafts inputs for a wide range of documents/reports, briefings/debriefings, correspondence, etc. • Provides guidance and training to new/ junior staff. • Supervises General Service staff or other field service in the function. • Documenting requirements, background information and methodology used for data analysis. • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education
High school diploma or equivalent, is required.
Job – Specific Qualification
Technical or vocational certificate or successful completion of online or classroom trainings in Data Analysis, Data Science or related learning credential is required. Certificates in Microsoft Power BI is required. Certificate in SCPT demand planner is desirable Certificate in SCPT source planner is desirable Certificate in UMOJA Analytics (Self Service Analytics) is desirable Certificate in project management methodology such as Prince2, PMP or lean methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban is desirable.
Work Experience
At least eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in data science, data analytics, supply chain management, logistics, or related area, is required. Experience with building and maintaining reports on Power BI or similar tools, and on Advanced Excel are required Experience in BI/Analytics (Self Service Analytics) is desirable. Experience in Supply Chain Planning Tool (SCPT) is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency (oral and written) in English is required. Working knowledge of another UN official language is desirable.
Assessment
