Fowler Welch operates in the fresh produce sector providing time critical logistics solutions for major retailers, growers and manufacturers across the UK.At Fowler Welch we have a winning culture, we believe that our culture is one of the reasons our company continues to thrive… A place where you’re valued, challenged, and inspired!Job DescriptionReporting to the Commercial Director, the Commercial Analysis Manager will sit a part of the Fowler Welch Commercial team, to help deliver profitable growth to the business through detailed commercial analysis of new proposals and evaluation of existing contracts through cost to serve modelling.You will make recommendations to internal stakeholders, including the Board of Directors, on key revenue and cost areas, to leverage greater profitability and help to improve the business’s position within the market.Working hours: Monday to Friday, 08.30-17.30.Key Duties of a Commercial Analysis Manager:
- Develop tools and maintain models to enable the business to assess the profitability of contracts and to ensure accurate commercial submissions using initiative and insight, rather than following set protocols.
- Support commercial tenders and supplier requests for information in a timely and organised manner, by providing detailed financial proposals and to assist with the production of presentations, contracts and other commercial documentation.
- Work closely with both the Commercial and Operations management teams across the whole FW network, to ensure that the business fully understands any changes within customers’ characteristics and make recommendations on the appropriate course of action.
- Work closely with the Commercial Director on all new business proposals and current customer agreements for all sites, to ensure pricing for the potential solution/service is cost effective.
- Identify any areas for internal / external process improvement that may improve revenue recovery and profitability.
- Maintain records of pricing methodologies for specific customers and activities, to ensure new tender content is resilient and future-proofed.
- Produce periodic profitability reports and relevant commentary for internal stakeholders to address underperformance and thereby increase profitability.
- Attend meetings with existing and prospective customers as required, acting in a professional and knowledgeable manner, to articulate pricing proposals.
- Maintain an understanding of market conditions / trends and competitor news within the sector.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a Supply Chain environment, preferably 3PL
- Knowledge of operational logistics management
- Commercially aware, literate, numerate with exceptional numeracy skills
- Understanding of analytical techniques
- Confident in dealing with and challenging all levels of business stakeholder, including Board members
- Capable of working under pressure to critical deadlines and objectives
- Ability to work remotely and flexibly and without direct supervision
- Technically competent in Microsoft Office Word, PowerPoint and Excel
- Strong and concise communication skills, both written and verbal
- Highly organised, with a flexible approach and with a focus on attention to detail
