The Green Climate Fund is the world’s largest dedicated multilateral climate fund and invests in impactful, innovative, catalytic programs and projects in developing countries across the globe. The GCF has a portfolio of 286 projects across 133 countries, with a total commitment of USD 15.9 billion to date.

Internship Assignment
The Department of Risk Management and Compliance (DRMC)comprises 3 units – Enterprise Risk Unit, Programming Risk Unit and Compliance Unit. DRMC is seeking an Intern to provide operational and administrative support to the Programming Risk unit. A successful candidate will have the opportunity to learn and expand their experience by assisting with all credit and investment risk designated work, including credit analysis of funding proposals, developing risk recommendations, risk review of the investment portfolio and restructuring cases, as well as assisting the team in their day-to-day activities and the ad hoc tasks. In addition, they will have the opportunity to apply their first-hand knowledge to the specifics of the Fund while supporting with the development and implementation of the Risk Management Framework.
- Under the overall guidance of the designated primary and alternate supervisors within the Programming risk team, the Intern is expected to:
- Support the Programming risk team in conducting their individual responsibilities under the Risk Management Framework, which could include gaining insight into risk monitoring and assessment of funding proposals and readiness support proposals.
- Support in the implementation of the Credit risk – related policies and guidelines.
- Helping to analyse data and statistics and to develop the credit and investment risk reports.
- Assisting the Programming risk team in ensuring proper due diligence of GCF programs within the remit of the Programming risk function.
- Support monitoring and controls to ensure compliance with Risk Management Framework, Risk Appetite Statement, Investment Risk Guidance, and other relevant internal rules, and procedures, and assuring that credit and investment risks are properly managed by the relevant function; and
- Other responsibilities may include providing support for (Board, Risk Management Committee) meetings and other events, performing general research tasks, preparation and editing of documents, taking minutes, preparing summaries of discussions, etc. as may be required.
Requirements and qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or recently completed a Master’s or PhD program in Law, Economics, Business, Public Administration or related fields;
- Basic understanding of credit and investment risks.
- Knowledge and experience and/or proven interest in credit and investment risk management and financial analysis.
- Insight and experience in operations of international organization is an added advantage.
- Good understanding and experience in drafting documents with strong emphasis in research, analysis, and attention to detail.
- Great attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and capability to collaborate well with others.
- Proficiency in using standard software programs: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Access.
- Excellent writing and presentation skills.
- Fluency in English is essential; knowledge of another United Nations language, in particular French and Spanish, and/or Portuguese is an advantage; and
- Established reputation for integrity, sound judgement, fairness and discretion is a must.
