Purpose:

The success of any qualitative research workshop relies heavily on the accurate and comprehensive documentation of discussions and insights. These workshops ( Endpoint workshop and validation workshop)  are designed to gather rich, detailed data that reflects participants’ experiences, opinions, and perspectives. Note-takers play a pivotal role in this process, ensuring that every key point, idea, and nuance is meticulously recorded. This documentation will serve as a critical resource for researchers to analyze trends, develop conclusions, and inform decision-making. The selected note-takers will contribute significantly to the quality and reliability of the research outcomes.

Engagement:

  • Attend all pre-workshop briefings to understand the workshop objectives, agenda, and note-taking guidelines.
  • Familiarize themselves with the key themes, discussion topics, and tools used during the sessions.
  • Record all discussions, key points, and participant interactions in real-time during the workshop sessions.
  • Capture participants’ responses verbatim, where feasible, ensuring that nuances and diverse perspectives are accurately documented.
  • Note non-verbal cues, such as body language, tone, and group dynamics, that contribute to a richer understanding of the discussions.
  • Document questions, suggestions, and feedback provided by participants.
  • Structure notes in a logical and coherent format, categorizing them by session, topic, or theme as per the workshop agenda.
  • Highlight recurring themes, challenges, and key insights that emerge during the discussions.
  • Handle all participant information with the utmost confidentiality.
  • Ensure professionalism in capturing sensitive or emotionally charged discussions, particularly in workshops addressing vulnerable populations or sensitive topics.
  • Coordinate with facilitators and researchers to ensure alignment on data collection priorities and methods.
  • Provide input on improving data collection processes if required.

Delivery:

  • Submit detailed, well-organized notes based on the template provided for each session within the agreed-upon timeframe.
  • Produce a summary report highlighting the main themes, insights, and conclusions of the workshop, if requested.
  • All the deliverables must be submitted in English language.

 

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Communication, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Proven experience in qualitative research, note-taking, or documentation, particularly in workshop, focus group, or interview settings.
  • Prior work experience in fields related to social development, gender, PSS,  GBV,  or community engagement is an asset.
  • Exceptional listening skills with the ability to distill complex discussions into clear and concise notes.
  • Strong writing and editing skills in [ English, Kurdish,  Arabic], with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Familiarity with qualitative data collection methods, including thematic analysis and coding.
  • Ability to engage with diverse groups, including marginalized populations, with cultural sensitivity and empathy.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage and document high volumes of information efficiently.

Other Requirements:

  • Proficiency in using digital tools for note-taking, such as Microsoft Word, Google Docs, or specialized transcription software.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines in research.
  • Willingness to travel to workshop locations and attend sessions during non-standard hours, if required.
