The Director of Marketing & Communications will oversee Partners’ Communications and Marketing Unit, driving the communications and marketing strategy, supervising staff, and supporting fundraising and development efforts. The Director will report to the Senior Vice President of Organizational Advancement.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • External Communications Strategy: Drive social media and other engagement (videos, blogs, podcasts, press releases) following industry best practices; conceptualize, design, and develop email blasts and newsletters; monitor key metrics to refine messaging, design, and frequency of communications.
  • Organizational Branding: Design and update organizational branding and marketing materials, including PowerPoint templates, one-pagers, swag, etc.
  • Special Projects: Lead the design, development, and finalization of Partners’ Annual Reports and other high-priority initiatives; ensure high-quality messaging and support for fundraising campaigns and events.
  • Writing & Copyediting: Ensure high-quality writing (well-written, no typos/errors) for external communications, including social media posts, press releases, letters of interest, email blasts, annual reports, etc.
  • Staff Management: Supervise the Communications & Marketing Officers.
  • Budget Management: Develop and manage the Communications & Marketing Unit’s budget, complying with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Process Improvement: Regularly assess the unit’s processes and systems, seeking to streamline operations, reduce bottlenecks, and increase efficiencies.
  • Website Management: Manage Partners’ website, ensuring it is regularly updated with high-quality content.
  • External Relations: Liaise with external organizations and donors to promote Partners as requested.

Qualifications and Minimum Requirements

  • Master’s degree in marketing, communications, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience developing and executing communications strategies for NGOs, preferably in international development. Proven technical skills and leadership experience; 2nd language required; international experience desired.
  • Expertise in communications, media relations, narrative development, and issues management.
  • Comprehensive understanding of multi-channel marketing and integrated campaigns to optimize reach, engagement, and attainment of recruitment goals.
  • Excellent attention to detail in planning, execution, writing, copyediting, etc.
  • Excellent people and project management skills.
  • Ability to manage and lead multiple time-sensitive projects under tight deadlines.
  • Integrity and commitment to Partners’ mission.
  • Excellent English writing skills.
  • Travel up to 25%.

  • 25% Business Development.

Position is located in Washington, DC and the salary range for this position is $86,968.00 to $100,000.00 annually. This position is a hybrid position and will be required to report to the DC office once a week at a minimum.
