JOB DESCRIPTION
- Introduction
The African Clean Cities Platform (ACCP) was established to address the increasing demand in waste management from African cities and countries, in April 2017, through a joint effort of UN-Habitat with UNEP, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Ministry of the Environment of Japan, the City of Yokohama and representatives from 24 countries in Africa.
ACCP is a knowledge sharing, capacity development and investment promotion platform for the improved solid waste management in Africa to achieve the waste-related SDGs by 2030. The initiative started with 24 representatives from Africa in 2017 and has grown to a network of 190 cities from 47 countries in African continent (as of 01 December 2024).
One of the activities under the ACCP is promoting mutual learning among African countries through study visits within the continent, serving as part of the local training center’s functions.
