Under the supervision of the Communication Advisor the intern will provide support in the implementation of outreach material, web-related activities conference/workshops/technical and network meetings in the Department of Nuclear Safety and Security and support the Department’s social media account outreach efforts.
Functions / Key Results Expected:
- Support in logistical preparations for large meetings and conferences.
- Support communication outreach for network and partnership efforts to widen awareness of the importance of nuclear safety and security.
- Support and research of information for web related articles and social media to raise the visibility of nuclear safety and security.
- Support in improving the department’s web content and social media outreach efforts including overviews, graphic development as well as analyses and suggestions.
- Draft and publish posts on a regular basis and produce and develop stories, features and other outreach material for use in social media, the web site and print.
- Support in preparation of outreach material, such as leaflets, information brochures, newsletters, presentations, meetings and meeting notes.
- Participate in the enhancement of information sharing or knowledge management systems.
Qualifications and Experience:
- University degree in Communication, Design, Political Science, International Relations or a related field.
- Proficiency in MS Office 2010, which is the IAEA standard (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio), and the ability to use databases.
- Experience with the design and development of communication materials on complex technical topics (knowledge of Adobe suite programs, an asset).
- Knowledge and understanding of social media platforms, promoting content and supporting graphic designs as well as monitoring.
- Excellent oral and written command of English.
