The International Finance Corporation (IFC) – a member of the World Bank Group (WBG) – is the largest global development institution focused on the private sector in emerging markets. It works in more than 100 developing countries, using capital, mobilization capacity, expertise, and influence to create jobs and raise living standards for people.

The IFC Ghana Team is executing IFC’s strategy in Ghana. This strategy calls for generating their own opportunities by proactively working “upstream” to create, deepen, and expand markets and to imagine, design and implement investment projects. It requires a “developer mindset” to identify investment opportunities and develop and structure viable projects in difficult markets and imperfect regulatory environments. In other cases, it requires taking a systematic approach to resolving regulatory and sector bottlenecks through World Bank Group engagement and policy reforms.

As Operations Analyst you support IFC as follows:

  • Support IFC’s strategy implementation and preparation of WBG strategy documents for Ghana;

  • Develop understanding of Ghana’s economic and political context, and support business development efforts;

  • Help manage IFC’s investment portfolio, liaise with teams, and assist in advisory operations;

  • Contribute to mission preparations, concept notes, and briefing materials for senior management;

  • Etc.

Part of the Talent programme “Swiss Youth at the United Nations / World Bank Group“, this position is sponsored by the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO). An International UN Youth Volunteer contract ensures that travel, relocation and UN health insurance costs are covered. Additionally, a monthly living allowance is paid.
