Assistant/Intermediate Quantity Surveyor – Infrastructure ProjectsLocation: Birmingham, United KingdomAbout the Role:
I am seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Assistant/Intermediate Quantity Surveyor to join a dynamic infrastructure team in Birmingham. This role offers an opportunity to be part of a leading consultancy, working on high-profile infrastructure projects across sectors such as rail, water, aviation, nuclear, and highways.As an Assistant/Intermediate Quantity Surveyor, you will provide essential support to senior team members and project leads, assisting in delivering cost management services throughout all stages of the project lifecycle. You will be working within a collaborative environment on complex, large-scale infrastructure projects that help shape the future of the UK’s infrastructure landscape.Key Responsibilities:
- Support the preparation of cost estimates, budgets, and cost plans for major infrastructure projects.
- Assist in the preparation of tender documentation, bills of quantities, and contracts.
- Provide commercial and contractual advice to the project team under the guidance of senior colleagues.
- Assist with the administration of contracts, including assessing variations, claims, and preparing valuations.
- Conduct cost reporting, forecasting, and tracking of financial performance for various infrastructure projects.
- Help in the evaluation of contractor proposals, procurement activities, and tender analysis.
- Engage with project stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and project teams, to ensure clear communication and understanding of project objectives.
- Contribute to risk management and value engineering exercises to ensure projects are delivered efficiently and within budget.
Key Skills and Experience:
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related discipline.
- Experience working in infrastructure sectors, such as rail, water, aviation, nuclear, or highways, is desirable.
- Working knowledge of NEC contracts.
- Proficiency in cost management processes, including cost planning, reporting, and forecasting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative working style.
