Job Description (Roles and Responsibilities)
Who We Are:
The British Embassy The Hague, is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is seeking to recruit a Security & Logistics Support.
Main purpose of job:
Our successful candidate will work with the Embassy Security team to ensure a safe and secure working environment for staff, contractors and visitors to British Embassy Residence throughout renovation works. You will be expected to undertake supervision of all persons on site and ensure the integrity of the building during operational periods and that it is secure for the silent hours. You will be the first point of contact for all persons requiring access to site. It is important to be a team player in support of wider aspects of security.
Roles and responsibilities:
Security & Access Control
- Supervise access to the buildings of the British Embassy Residence during operational hours;
- Supervise security and other work in and around the building and grounds of the Residence;
- Undertake security checks;
- Liaise with local police, municipality and security colleagues;
- Monitor the CCTV system;
- Contribute to updating security procedures.
Front Desk Duties
- Deal with contractors and visitors in a courteous and efficient manner;
- Deal with inquiries from contractors, project management and Embassy staff either by telephone or in person, escalating where needed;
- Examine all in coming goods and materials including machinery to ascertain authenticity;
- Facilitate entry of contractors and visitors in an appropriate manner;
- Deal with email inquiries from staff and external stakeholders, liaising with the Security and Corporate Services Teams based at the Embassy where needed.
Essential qualifications, skills and experience
Our Ideal Candidate shows:
- Full professional proficiency in English, written and spoken, minimum of C1 level for CEFR framework*;
- Strong interpersonal skills;
- Experience of working in a customer facing role;
- Ability to work effectively and flexibly with others;
- Capacity to work flexible hours as and when needed;
- Ability to understand customers’ needs.
Desirable qualifications, skills and experience
Nice to have:
- Experience of working in a security orientated environment;
- A good level of spoken Dutch.

Please be informed this is an Internal only campaign: run at Post level, open to Local Staff employees and interns currently employed in the Post were the vacancy exists, spouses/partners of UK-based staff (including PAGs) in Post.
The base salary for this position is €3,126.63 gross per month, based on a working week of 36 hours. In addition, an 8% holiday allowance is payable each year. The successful candidate will initially be offered an employment contract of 6 months with the possibility of renewal at S1 grade.
