Child Development group at icddr,b is aiming to scale up ECD activities in the country through several projects. The Research Investigator, reporting to the Assistant Scientist will be responsible for Planning and implementing qualitative research project, supervising research teams, full understanding of the research methods and identification of threats to study validity and responsibility to ensuring data collection standards of the highest international quality and ethics, organize trainings for the research teams on standard operating procedures (SOP), increase capacity of the teams to perform population-based research in facilities as well as in communities, as applicable. Supervise and coordinate research studies, coordinate with government/non-government counterparts.

The Research Investigator will report to the Principal Investigator (PI) and will be responsible for planning, organizing, implementing and coordinating an Implementation research to attain study objectives within the guidelines of the research protocol and organizational values. The specific areas of responsibilities include:
- Provide strategic input into child development intervention strategies development, especially to take an ECD intervention program to scale by integrating it into GoB health system;
- Work with supervisor in proposal development through literature search, reviewing the relevant documents of study;
- Identify new research ideas and develop concept notes. Review project implantation plans with team members, donors and other partners to develop revised plans as needed. Provide technical guidance to design and implement ToT plans among government district and community level health cadres and facilities to create awareness and demand for ECD services;
- Create detailed project plan covering milestones, deliverables etc.;
- Secure financial and non-financial resources; establish and maintain continuous liaison with stakeholders e.g. GoB policy makers, different line directors associated with implementing ECD program by GoB health cadres, other NGO staff, arranging ToT, documentation of participation, Train staffs on data collection procedures;
- Develop and revise ECD qualitative tools; Prepare research communication materials; Assign work to team and initiate activities as per project plan; document project activities, Prepare periodic reports from the involved studies;
- Travel to field to check the study activities;
- Coordinate and liaise with scientists in the country and abroad, the GoB and NGOs;
- Liaise with the donors on all aspects of the project;
- Take proactive initiatives in coordinating with different relevant stakeholders in advancing the project goals as and when necessary;
- Critically asses data quality under the guidance of PI/Assistant Scientist; apply rigorous scientific analysis to derive meaningful inferences from data;
- Analyze data and draw appropriate scientific inferences; Present findings to other scientists and seek inputs; Derive implications for public health;
- Discuss preliminary findings with team members and key stakeholders;
- Deliberate on those inputs and develop a draft report; Work jointly with PI/Assistant Scientist and other team members to develop articles for peer-reviewed journals;
- Conduct peer reviews of manuscripts of other researchers in order to support scientific manuscript creation while developing one’s own scientific writing abilities.
- Monitor implementation plan, review consumption of resources, prepare report and delegate project related activities to ensure control and review;
- Provide training to data collectors; oversee field activities; identify areas of improvement and provide necessary assistance as and when required;
- Manage staff and guide/coach/mentor team members in scientific arena (scientific writing, scientific capacity building) to develop good researchers;
Required qualification and experience:
- Master’s in Social Sciences or relevant discipline with good academic result
- 3 years of experience in conducting qualitative research. Experience of working with child development data and in refugee camps will be given preference

ROLE PURPOSE:The Gender & Safeguarding Officer will be responsible for overseeing the Safeguarding, Feminist Participatory Action Research [PAR] data collection & analyses, Beneficiary Feedback Management [BFM], and analysis of impact assessment, reporting, and spatial presentation. This role involves supporting the consortia partners' functioning to systematically generate programme quality and precise safeguarding support, facilitate data collection and analysis, and streamline reporting processes regarding the CARE for Women project’s overall goal. The Gender & Safeguarding Officer collaborates with cross-functional teams, provides technical expertise on safeguarding, and ensures the quality of PAR data and information. Key responsibilities include organising boot camps, impact assessment of the project deliveries, climate resilience support to the local community, supporting and managing BFM, facilitating PAR data collection and reporting structures, and coordinating with consortia partners. The Safeguarding officer is also anticipated to be a technical user of safeguarding principles, code of conduct, and reporting mechanisms, thus the position is expected to contribute to ensuring the overall support to the consortia partners where needed. The role also involves rolling out capacity development plans for technical and implementing partners in the operationalization of safeguarding, BFM and function as a help desk to assist them as per need. Additionally, the Gender & Safeguarding Officer will closely coordinate and collaborate with the Project Manager, Advocacy & Liaison Coordinator, District MEL & Project officers and Upazila Field mobilisers.
