Role Purpose
In this role you will supporting us in the journey of educational excellence, by:
- igniting the passion for quality teaching and empoweringeffective learning experiences.
- contributing to the evolution of our adult product offerin the vibrant cultural landscape of Venezuela.
- aligning with the broader vision of the British Council, becoming a champion for cultural relations.
Main accountabilities but not limited to the following
- Upholding the British Councils reputation for high quality teaching by meeting British Council Teaching tandards as set out in our Teaching Excellence Academic Plan (TEAP).
- Supporting and delivering British Council Adult products and services.
- Knowing and upholding Safeguarding standards and procedures at all times.
- Teaching up to 20 hours of teaching per week and substitution as required.
- Monitor progress and provide regular feedback to help manage students performance throughout the course, and actively promote learner autonomy.
- Complete teaching related administrative tasks to specified standards.
- Academic and duty management (shift supervisor responsibilities).
- Supporting the Senior Teacher Adults to implement and monitor the adult product offer in line with market research, business targets, policies, and standards.
- Supporting the B2BIG Academic team to align the adult product offer to the B2BIG offer.
- Supporting the Head of Teaching Excellence with the planning and delivery of training sessions relevant to the adult programme.
- Participating in Teaching Centre leadership meetings as required.
- Managing the myClub product. Support creating & communicating timetables/registration sheets to key stakeholders, supporting teachers with training, materials, monitoring, and feeding back on quality.
- Supporting the Sales & Customer Management team on the delivery of level/placement testing.
- Coordinating the Student Committee: following up on timetabling, organisation, and promotion of events.
- Support academic management team in recruitment of new teachers as interviewing or leading demo classes.
- Line management and performance management responsibilities.
- Ensuring safeguarding and other guidelines are applied and upheld in line with standards and policy for the following areas:
- Safeguarding
- Equality, diversity and inclusion
- Health and safety
- Information governance and risk management Fraud awareness
- Environmental awareness
Requirements of the role
- Line management or mentoring experience
- Online and Face to face teaching experience
- You should have experience in teaching two or more of the following age groups:
- Adults aged 18+ (1,500+ hours)
- Young learners 5-17 years (600+ hours)
- Full mastery of English across all 4 skills equivalent to user (CEFR), IELTS Band 8 in each of 4 sections of the academic module
- Undergraduate/University degree or equivalent
- Cambridge DELTA/Trinity Diploma or equivalent (completed)
- DELTA/Trinity cert TESOL experience or equivalent
