The Integrated Disaster Risk Management (IDRM) project’s key objective is to ensure ‘Solomon Islands communities are more resilient to climate and disaster risks due to strengthened and inclusive DRM systems’. Funded by the Australian Government, the IDRM project was implemented by UNDP in partnership with the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change, Disaster Management and Meteorology (MECDM). These agencies are embarking on the IDRM project to achieve the key objective above through the following key project outputs;
1. Strengthening government institutions’ capacity with improved policy and governance frameworks for gender-responsive DRM,
2. Strengthen sub-national institutional arrangements to coordinate and implement gender-responsive DRM programs and promote community resilience and
3. improved national and local early warning systems, information, and knowledge management systems for DRM.
This request aims to achieve output 3 above and ensure the SIMS office has good network accessibility so that they can provide a timely weather forecasting early warning system to the general public in the Solomon Islands.
