Summary

The Division of Cardiothoracic Transplant Surgery is seeking a qualified Communications Associate to assist with building and supporting a robust robotic cardiothoracic practice. The Communications Associate will be responsible and accountable for business development and outreach activities aimed at expanding robotic cardiac surgery practice at Baylor St Luke’s Medical Center. This position will be responsible for the research and development of various marketing strategies for the Robotic Cardiothoracic Surgery Center of Excellence through collaboration with the BCM Marketing Team. This position will be under the direction of Dr. Kenneth Liao. This position will perform administrative responsibilities in a hospital setting and work closely with advanced practice providers and will report to the Division Administrator. Strong professional communication skills are required for this position. The ideal candidate will possess basic medical knowledge, preferably in the area of cardiovascular medicine, be able to network with referring physicians or their designees, and be able to analyze patient volume data and physician referring patterns in order to identify areas of improvement and implement marketing plans.

Job Duties

  • Perform in-network and out-of-network outreach to increase the market exposure and patient and health care providers awareness of robotic technology. 25%
  • Build, maintain, and analyze monthly robotic cardiothoracic practice database. 15%
  • Maintain communications with referring physicians and their office for patient’s treatment. 10%
  • Attend and manage community outreach events up to 2-per month. 5%
  • Monitor and engage in robotic website building and serve as patient resource. 5%
  • Assure timely referral to other services to facilitate ongoing care needs of patient. 5%
  • Generate the plans for robotic outreach, including targeting regional physician practice groups to various sites for successful growth of robotic clinical practice. 5%
  • Regularly engage in calls to nurture relationships with referring providers, aiming to uphold a positive patient experience. 5%
  • Regularly scheduled meetings with BCM Marketing to assist in development, execution and upholding of the remarketing strategy outlined by the marketing lead. 5%
  • Collaborate with BCM Marketing to ensure consistency in branding and marketing messages across all physician materials. 5% 
  • Collaborate with BCM Marketing to oversee and manage the implementation of marketing campaigns. 5%
  • Manage leads generated by marketing campaigns. 5%
  • Understand and adhere to the college Medical Center compliance standards as they appear in the Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct, and Conflict of Interest Policy. 2.5%
  • Additional projects may include working alongside Division Administrator to complete College and Department initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree.  Four years of relevant experience may substitute for degree requirement. 
  • Two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual (Spanish)
  • Project management experience
