The Transgenic Facility provides the MRC London Institute of Medical Sciences (LMS) and Imperial College London with valuable murine and rat colonies for scientific purposes.  We are looking to recruit a Researcher to the exisiting team, who will work closely with other members of the Transgenic Facility team at the Hammersmith Campus, which houses internationally competitive biological researchers; facilities include a fully equipped transgenic suite, to provide a full GM/Transgenic, rederivation, IVF and cryopreservation service to our research groups.

 

The post-holder will  be required to undertake all areas of Transgenic technology. They will have experience  in IVF and cryopreservation techniques and rederivation surgeries. They will be expected to  be competent in all stages of transgenic surgery techniques. .The post holder will ideally be able to undertake Pro nuclei and blastocyst injections as well as electroporation techniques. The post holder will also manage on a day-to-day basis the breeding, genotyping and rederivation of murine colonies.  

 

Applicants must have Bsc or higher qualifications in an appropriate scientific subject,  experience in all areas of transgenic techniques and hold a Home Office personal licence that includes surgical techniques. They  should be self-motivated individuals with good technical, communication and administrative skills. The roles entail performance of specialist technical procedures and liaison with a wide cross-section of users

 

The post is full-time and there will be a requirement for some out-of-hours procedural work

Essential Requirements:

  • BSc or higher qualifications in an appropriate scientific subject
  • Home Office personal license holder (including surgical techniques)
  • Experience in murine embryo transfer for 0.5dpc and 3.5dpc, IVF and cryopreservation
  • Up to date knowledge of ASPA
  • Adept at embryo isolations from 0.5dpc – 4.5dpc
  • Experience in Pro Nuclei and blastocyst injection
  • Knowledge in preimplantation surgical techniques
  • Adept with knowledge of databases, and record keeping
  • Excellent Communication skills

 

Desirable Requirements:

  • Knowledge of CRISPR technologies and design
  • Preparation of medias and injectables
