- Remuneration: $93,176 – $115,917 (plus superannuation and other benefits)
About the role
We’re excited to be recruiting for the position of Lead, Commercial Determinants of Health, located within our Health Promotion Systems Group.
This position reports directly to the Manager, Commercial Determinants of Health, and works in close partnership with other members of the Health Promotion Systems Group and other groups across VicHealth. The high performing Commercial Determinants of Health team works across a range of sectors including public health, sport, business, community and government to reshape systems for a healthier, fairer Victoria.
This position leads initiatives that ensure:
- Victorians are less exposed to the harmful practices of commercial actors
- Victorian communities are more aware of commercial actors’ practices and products, with increased capacity to respond
- Victoria’s economic system better enables health and wellbeing.
- We are looking for a highly driven candidate with a can-do attitude and a systems-based mindset, who is comfortable with ambiguity and changing priorities in a fast-paced working environment.
- The ability to manage complex stakeholders, projects, and events, as well as use initiative, problem solve, and work collaboratively within a strong team environment will all be primary factors that we will be looking for.

Qualifications and experience required:
- Relevant tertiary or post graduate qualifications desired
- Strong experience working in fields related to health promotion policy / practice, public health, social policy or related field
- Preferred experience working within the public health, community or government sectors
- Demonstrated understanding of how commercial and economic actors impact health and wellbeing
- Experience in using systems thinking to identify issues, determine solutions and plan collective action
- Impressive experience working in project management; with contract management experience desirable
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
