Seasonal INNS Assistant (Derwent)
21 hours per week

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our team to help deliver the Yorkshire
Derwent Catchment Partnership’s (YDCP) Invasive Non-Native Species (INNS) Management Strategy.
Our INNS programme is focused on the eradication of giant hogweed throughout the Derwent
Catchment by 2030.

You will focus on the treatment of INNS (primarily giant hogweed) with herbicide with many of
the physical tasks being carried out during the summer. You will also liaise with landowners to
arrange access for treatment and surveys, input data into the INNS Mapper App, GIS and help
write an annual report.

You will work with the project team, driving to site and walking to the area for treating or
surveying. Physical fitness is essential as we survey over 60km of watercourse a year and treat
over 50km of INNS. This is a strenuous but very rewarding role, helping native species to
thrive while protecting the stability of riverbanks and other waterways. As required, you will
receive essential NPTC training in the handling of pesticides and use of a knapsack sprayer.

How to apply:

Please submit an up-to-date CV and supporting statement. When writing your supporting
statement, please refer to the person specification within the job description, and ensure you
describe your relevant knowledge, skills and experience relevant to the role. Ideally, your CV
and supporting statement should be in an editable format, such as Word, so we can anonymise
your documents prior to the short-listing process. Please DO NOT include any
personal details (name, address etc) on your supporting statement.

Closing date: 4 February (midnight)
Interview date: 16 February

Please note that applications received after the closing deadline may not be considered. The
Trust regrets that it is unable to give feedback on unsuccessful applications.
