Working Title Teaching & Learning Center (TLC) Coord & Instructional Designer
Brief Position Overview The TLC Coordinator & Instructional Designer functions as a champion of learner-centered course design. This position supports faculty in applying accessible and inclusive universal design principles and technology-enhanced course components to create effective and engaging learning environments. This position coordinates professional development aligned with strategic priorities and faculty needs. This position oversees course design reviews and the course redesign/creation process to ensure a consistent and quality learning experience. This position helps onboard new faculty, guiding individuals through technology training, course shell development, and OPI certification. This position reports to the Executive Director of Instruction and is an on-campus position.

Position Details

General Statement The TLC Coordinator & Instructional Designer functions as a champion of learner-centered course design. This position supports faculty in applying accessible and inclusive universal design principles and technology-enhanced course components to create effective and engaging learning environments. This position coordinates professional development aligned with strategic priorities and faculty needs. This position oversees course design reviews and the course redesign/creation process to ensure a consistent and quality learning experience. This position helps onboard new faculty, guiding individuals through technology training, course shell development, and OPI certification. This position reports to the Executive Director of Instruction and is an on-campus position.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manages the daily operations of the Teaching and Learning Center (TLC) and represents the TLC on state and institutional committees.
  • Oversees new course creations and course redesigns, and onboards new faculty, guiding individuals through LMS training, course shell development, and OPI certification.
  • Collaborates with faculty in conducting regular course design reviews, which ensure accessible, inclusive, and technology-enhanced course designs.
  • Coordinates professional development including workshops, courses, presentations, and one-on-one sessions that are aligned with strategic priorities and faculty needs.
  • Develops and teaches the course, Teaching at Great Falls College, and the technology orientation for new students, Tech Essentials.
Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
  • Master’s Degree in instructional or educational technology, education or a related field.
  • 2 years experience in instructional design, including working with educators in various curricular areas to develop successful learning products.
  • 2 years experience producing effective instructional materials and technologies to support teaching and learning based on user needs.
  • 2 years experience identifying training needs and developing and facilitating resulting professional development.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of creating courses in learning management systems.
Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
  • Experience supporting faculty in higher education.
  • Experience creating and managing courses in Canvas (LMS).
  • Knowledge of Department of Education distance course design requirements, accessibility requirements, and universal design best practices.
  • Demonstrated experience working with people of varied technological skills and professional backgrounds.
  • Two or more years of professional teaching experience.
