Environment Specialist (Operational and Project Support)

This is an exciting time for AWE as we look for environmentalists to support
both our operational facilities and project activities as we develop and enhance ongoing site
capability. To provide advice and documentation on environmental topics to one or more
operational areas/projects, for all activities and services that fall within the scope of AWE’s
Environmental Management System.

Location: Reading / Basingstoke Area

Salary: £33,690-£50,000 per annum (dependent on skills and level of
experience)

 As the Environmental Specialists, you will be required to,

  • Act as a point of contact for environmental advice within the operational area/project.
  • Implement environmental requirements from the EMS in support of the operation/project.
    Confidently challenge activities and processes that fall short of the expected standard of
    environmental protection and sustainability.
  • Maintain a proactive interface/relationship with all internal regulators/stakeholders.
  • Liaise across the business, as required, to ensure a connected approach when engaging with
    both internal and external regulators/stakeholders.

You will have experience of at least one of the following areas (gained within or outside AWE):
Environmental Management Systems, Environmental assessment, ISO14001, Policies and Legislation,
Sustainability, Front End, Project design, Commissioning, Operations, Construction and/or
Decommissioning.

  • Understanding of current environmental management systems including ISO14001.
  • Understanding of current environmental legislation, standards, and guidance (including
    licence conditions) relevant to role.
  • Strong interpersonal/communication, report writing and presentation skills.
  • Visibly demonstrates Company Values: Pride, Innovation, Excellence and Trust.
  • Degree in an environmental science or management based subject or vocational qualification
    (HND or equivalent) and/or commensurate practical experience.
