Job Summary Assists the curatorial team with programs, schedules, research, and various administrative tasks; coordinates the recruitment, hiring and training of student employees and is primary contact with student organizations associated with the museum; coordinates recruitment and training of tour guides, and schedules group tours of the museum; works with museum staff on the development of digital resources. The Curatorial Assistant will conduct original research on an area of their interest related to the Museum collection. This position reports to the Curator.
This is an entry-level, two-year post-baccalaureate appointment open to Bowdoin College graduates from the classes of 2022, 2023, and 2024.
Education/Skills Requirements A Bachelor’s degree from Bowdoin College is required as well as a demonstrated interest in the arts. Strong verbal and written communication skills; demonstrated knowledge of social media platforms; the ability to work well as part of a team; the ability to multi-task in deadline driven environment; and a sincere commitment to working in a museum environment.
Experience Requirements and/or Equivalents Previous experience in an art museum or gallery setting is preferred.
Standard Work Days and Hours Generally, Monday – Friday, 8:30 – 5:00. Occasional evening and weekend work is required.
