We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated purchasing Assistant to join the NDM Finance Shared Service Centre team at Nuffield Department of Medicine.

You will be part of the NDM Finance Shared Service Centre, a processing transactional finance for 15 units within NDM. The team comprises of 14 members of staff, and you will be working alongside a team of 4 and reporting directly to the PO Supervisor. You will deliver an excellent level of service to internal customers whilst ensuring financial policy and controls are adhered to. You will support the team and foster a “right first time” culture whilst looking to improve efficiency and striving for continuous improvement.

In this role, you will be responsible for using Oracle R12 to process purchase requisitions through to purchase orders for external suppliers within the University in timely fashion. You will ensure that the tax engine has been correctly run in Oracle at the processing stage and check the outcome of VAT and resolve VAT errors with the Central VAT team directly. You will provide support to shoppers on iProcurement adhering to university’s purchasing policies which involves obtaining quotes, tender exemptions, justifications and evidence of price. You will also be responsible for validating requisitions, ensuring the requisition matches the contractual commitment and its layout is compatible for goods receipting.

It is essential that you are educated to GCSE standard or equivalent, with evidence of numerical ability. You will be computer literate with experience of utilising MS Office, in particular Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. You will be able to generate high volumes of accurate work, with high attention to details including excellent time management skills. Having understanding or experience of University’s Oracle financial system is desirable.
