The Nuffield Department of Population Health (NDPH) contains world renowned population health research groups and provides an excellent environment for multi-disciplinary research and teaching.

We are seeking a Deputy Chief Scientist for UK Biobank to develop the future scientific strategy for study enhancements. You will work with closely with the Chief Scientist and other senior members of the organisation to prioritise, develop and deliver on the future scientific vision for UK Biobank. You will have the opportunity to develop and implement a programme of research according to your research interests using the UK Biobank resource.

You will be responsible for initiating and implementing long-term research programmes into future study enhancements and will work closely with external researchers and other stakeholders to determine the scientific added-value of new data collection techniques and contribute to the policy making of external agencies. You will also be responsible for managing substantial research resources and budgets, develop and implement new programmes of research, as well as having line management responsibility.

To be considered, you will hold a PhD/DPhil or equivalent in biomedical sciences or epidemiology (or a related discipline), recognised international authority within the specialism, significant relevant post-doctoral research experience in epidemiology, a track record of attracting research income, experience of academic supervision/teaching and have excellent written and oral communication skills.

This is a full time, fixed term post (part time considered) for 3 years or 30 June 2027, whichever is soonest.
