tendersglobal.net

Archipelagos Institute of Marine Conservation is looking for a Marine Ecology Team Assistant to join us as soon as possible (January 2024) at our
research bases, located in the northeastern Aegean islands.

populations is largely deficient. By understanding the increasing impacts of human disturbance,
we aim to develop successful, targeted management and conservation plans. The marine ecology
team focuses on monitoring littoral ecosystems; health assessments of Posidonia oceanica
meadows, biodiversity assessments, the presence and establishment of invasive species, as well
as habitat restoration through seagrass replanting and implementation/monitoring of artificial
reefs .

The primary role of the Marine Ecology Assistant will be to support the Marine Ecology Supervisor in managing research projects,
designing surveys, training and guiding interns, as well as contributing to general base
management.

The position will remain open until filled.

  • BSc degree in marine biology or related
    field
  • Experience in management and training of students and/or volunteers

  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills, including computer
skills with preference towards those with experience in R studio
  • Excellent scientific writing skills

  • Fluency in Greek (optional)
  • Sincere interest in issues related to the protection of the environment

This is a full-time position with the potential for professional development and
working on a scientific CV. We offer a supportive work environment and full board in one of our

The Archipelagos Institute of Marine Conservation is a non-profit, non-governmental
organisation based on the island of Samos in the Aegean Sea, Greece. The institute’s commitment
is to research and protect the biodiversity of the Greek seas and islands and the entire
eastern Mediterranean. Since 1998, Archipelagos has successfully combined multidisciplinary
scientific research with effective conservation work in which local communities play an
integral role. This strategic collaboration enables and strengthens Archipelagos’ local,
national, and global actions, allowing it to protect the Aegean against the growing threats
posed by human activities. With a dedicated team of experts, Archipelagos is committed to
promoting sustainable management practices, advancing scientific knowledge, and raising public
awareness about protecting our marine ecosystems.

The research team at Archipelagos Institute of Marine Conservation comprises a small
