UNICEF relies heavily on donor funds to support a substantial portion of its projects. In recent years, the primary source of these contributions has been monthly donors. Recognizing the importance of diversifying its funding sources, UNICEF is actively seeking to establish a new avenue for one-time donors. The Fundraising Associate, at the GS6 level in the PFP area, in the Pledge Section, in the Country Office of Chile, reports to the Acquisition Officer who is at the NOA Level.

The fundraising Associate is tasked with driving the expansion of new revenue channels. This entails a dedicated focus on developing innovative cash strategies, refining underwriting models, and engaging new audiences—all of which align closely with the overarching objectives of Public Sector Fundraising (PSFR). A strategic mindset and proactive approach are imperative in this role, as the incumbent plays a pivotal part in ensuring the success of our fundraising initiatives.

How can you make a difference?

1. Project Management and Technical Support:

    1. Assist in defining strategies, content, designs, components, and timing for Cash activities and campaigns.
    2. Establish campaign KPIs criteria, including reporting, systems, performance evaluation, and goals.
    3. Analyzing and identifying untapped segments of potential Cash/one-off (multi-givers) donors.
    4. Examination of practices and the implementation of strategic activities tailored to the different segments.
    5. Cultivate new high-quality cash donors, assessed in terms of their Lifetime Value.

2. Implementation and Coordination of Cash Campaigns:

    1. Effectively implement Cash campaigns outlined in the PSFR Annual Plan, managing various operational models (in-house, outsourced, or partnerships).
    2. Support on Implementation and follow-up of a significant always on cash campaign, with a key emphasis on aligning with the preferences of the targeted audience.
    3. Determining the optimal month for implementation, identifying diverse payment channels, establishing strategic partnerships with companies, refining branding and communication strategies, setting a precise fundraising target, and managing the budget.
    4. The incumbent will be key part on the instrumental in supporting the identification, design, and execution of targeted cash strategies, including:
      1. Identifying inactive pledge donor segments from the house list and supporters (across digital, CPTP, cold base leads, and other groups) for the implementation of cash/one-off campaigns through the telemarketing channel. This task involves close collaboration with the business intelligence team to ensure precision and effectiveness.
      2. Driving the development of the cash platform in Chile, strategically aligning with significant occasions such as Christmas, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Children’s Day, etc. This initiative requires seamless coordination with the Digital Fundraising team and the digital development agency, ensuring a harmonious integration of creative elements and fundraising goals.
  1. e. Identification, and testing of proposals for all cash actions through innovative non-traditional means of payment and strategic alliances.

3. Monitoring and Evaluation:

    1. Regularly monitor and evaluate Cash channel performance.
    2. Weekly monitoring of fulfillment goals for acquiring new donors and proposing actions for improvement.
    3. Undertake diverse analyses of information to enhance campaign goals, fulfillment, and attrition rates.
    4. Prepare reports for supervisors on agreed performance indicators to enhance management efficiency and accountability.
    5. Collaborate with UNICEF international and regional teams to share information, best practices, and identify new opportunities.

4. Administrative Tasks:

    1. Manage quotation and billing processes for the Cash strategy.
    2. Handle various administrative tasks effectively.

To effectively implement future individual fundraising work plans geared towards increasing Regular Resources (RR) funds, the enhancement of the team’s operational capacities is imperative. This position is pivotal in supporting the expansion program through four complementary logics:

  • Continuous and Systematic Control:

Ensure a continuous and systematic control and overview of Cash campaigns. Implement measures for real-time monitoring, allowing for prompt adjustments and optimizations.

  • Development of New Initiatives:

Spearheaded the development of new initiatives and activities, exploring innovative channels to ensure sustained growth and the attainment of yearly objectives. Collaborate with the team to identify emerging trends and opportunities in individual fundraising.

  • Data Compilation for Decision Making:

Facilitate the correct compilation of data and results, providing insightful information for strategic decision-making. Implement robust data management processes to ensure accuracy, completeness, and relevance.

  • Relationship Management with Providers and Vendors:

Managing the day-to-day relationship with the various providers and vendors and supporting the contracting officer in making the best business decisions for UNICEF.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Completion of secondary education, preferably supplemented by management, marketing, sales, communications, or related areas training or university courses in these areas.
  • A minimum of 6 years of relevant professional experience in supervising sales work groups, as a supervisor or team leader. Fundraising experience is an asset.
  • Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergencies is considered an asset.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish is required. 

A bachelor’s degree from a recognized academic institution in a field relevant to the position may be considered to compensate for three (3) years of experience in case the candidate lacks the required experience.

A master’s degree from a recognized academic institution in a field relevant to the position may be considered to compensate for an additional two (2) years (in addition to the three years from above, totaling 5 years

Remarks:
