The Role:

 

Oxfam has an excellent opportunity for a Policy Advisor working in our Climate Justice specialism.  In this role, you will provide expertise and knowledge to help shape the strategy and work of the Climate Justice workstream. Our Advocacy and Policy Team helps Oxfam GB – and its partners, supporters and allies – to work with governments across the UK to influence policy and practice change to help end poverty.

An ideal candidate for the role will also be / have:

 

  • Proven ability and experience of developing and implementing policy and advocacy strategies and plans on climate justice and of integrating programme experience into policy  (ideally experience in international climate finance and/or finance for development, tax justice, debt justice)
  • Strong interpersonal, influencing and diplomatic skills, along with awareness of political sensitivities and experience of working with diverse partners who often will work in dispersed locations across the world.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills combining an accessible style with rigorous analytical skills.
  • Capacity to coordinate with various actors and work on diverse activities, sometimes towards tight deadlines.
  • Proven sound judgement in complex situations.
  • Ability to contribute to ways of working and culture in the Policy and Advocacy team that values multiple talents and specialism and ensure adaptability across the team.
  • Good understanding. commitment and ideally experience embedding and continuously learning to embed a decolonial, safe, anti-racist, intersectional feminist and partner led approach in your work.
