Upward Bound Math Science is a federally funded TRIO program that assists high school students from first generation and low-income backgrounds in developing the motivation and skills necessary to complete secondary school and enter postsecondary education programs. Further, the Upward Bound Math and Science program is designed to strengthen the math and science skills of participating students. The goal of the program is to help students recognize and develop their potential to excel in math and science and to encourage them to pursue postsecondary degrees in math and science, and ultimately careers in the math and science profession. Program services include group and individual counseling, academic advising and support, intensive math and science training, exposure to faculty members with math and science specialty, and scientific research studies. Program services also include career and educational opportunities, and personal enrichment events. The program serves 60 students in the Loveland area. |
