About the role:

The Web Content Writer is responsible for creating written content for a range of research and innovation initiatives across the Deakin website and research content hub, that contribute to amplifying the impact of Deakin’s research, to build reputation and brand and generate demand for Higher Degree Research (HDR).

The role is responsible for creating engaging content and optimising existing content and copy into well-crafted, web ready content, including landing page content and article content. This role will also support content development, including copywriting, editing and proofreading across other channels and campaigns as required.

The successful candidate will understand best practice search engine optimisation (SEO), how to adapt tone and style to match the Deakin brand’s tone of voice and various campaigns and channels and be able to immerse themselves in complex topics to provide valuable information to our audiences. The Web Content Writer will work collaboratively with the Web Content Editor, the Public Web Team and broader Marketing Division, as well as Deakin’s research stakeholder community.

As a Web Content Writer you will:

  • Be responsible for creating written content for a range of research and innovation initiatives across the Deakin website and content hub
  • Create engaging content and optimise existing content and copy into well-crafted, web ready content, including landing page content and article content
  • Support content development, including copywriting, editing and proofreading across other channels and campaigns as required
  • Work collaboratively with the Web Content Editor, the Public Web Team and broader Marketing Division, as well as Deakin’s research stakeholder community

To be successful, you’ll have:

  • A Degree with subsequent relevant experience; or

An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.

  • Excellent communication, organisational, interpersonal skills and writing skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to organise and plan, and to meet rigid and conflicting demands and deadlines, along with the ability to adapt to changed priorities.
  • Working knowledge and experience of SEO.
  • Understanding of interface and responsive design, user experience design processes and principles.
