About the role:

As Student Safety Coordinator you will support the student safety initiatives and case management within the Safeguarding and Student Safety area of the university and the ongoing improvement and delivery of ACU safeguarding and student safety strategy and function. A focus of the role is providing support, information and trauma informed case management for students who have experienced sexual assault, sexual harassment, family and domestic violence, other forms of sexual harm or inappropriate behaviour. The Student Safety Coordinator also supports the National Manager, Safeguarding and Student Safety in developing and managing prevention and promotional initiatives to raise awareness of and reduce instances of inappropriate or concerning behaviour.

More specifically the role entails:

  • Receiving student disclosures of sexual assault, sexual harassment, family and domestic violence, other forms of sexual harm or inappropriate behaviour.
  • Providing ongoing welfare checks to students who make disclosures, and case management.
  • Developing training workshops and delivering prevention and promotion initiatives to raise awareness of and reduce incidences of inappropriate or concerning behaviour.
  • Coordinating and implementing student safety and Respect. Now. Always. initiatives and events in collaboration with key stakeholders such as staff, Student Life, student associations and clubs and societies.
  • Supporting staff as well as the Safety Support Network with student disclosures.
  • Coordinating and facilitating the Student Safety Working Group

You will need to have:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification, for example in social work, psychology or health, or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the drivers and impacts of sexual assault, sexual harassment, and family and domestic violence.
  • Experience in Trauma Informed Care Practice strategies and victim-centric approach to support.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with young adults particularly in a university setting.
  • Experience in the delivery of education and awareness campaigns.
  • Demonstrated computer literacy through the use of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including managing persons in crisis.
  • Highly-developed report-writing and presentation skills and provide ability to communicate effectively to a broad range of individuals and groups from diverse educational and cultural backgrounds.

  • Total remuneration valued to $113,340 – $122,616 total rem (pro rata) pa, including salary component $95,774 – $103,612 (pro rata) pa (HEW 7), employer contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading.
