Your new team:
Orygen Specialist Programs (OSP), a program of Melbourne Health, provides specialist mental health services for young people aged 15 to 25 and focuses on providing early intervention to young people with severe and complex mental illness.
Orygen Specialist Program Inpatient Unit (IPU) is located in Footscray on the Western Hospital site. The IPU includes a 16-bed low dependency area and a further three beds (ICA-EAST) for targeted specialised service delivery for youth with complex mental health and psychosocial needs.
The Orygen Custodial Forensic Youth Mental Health Service (FYMHS) team provides specialist youth mental health care in youth justice custodial settings including the Parkville, Malmsbury and Cherry Creek sites.
Your new role:
- Work collaboratively across the IPU and Custodial FYMHS and provide a continuity of care for young people between the inpatient setting and custody.
- Complete assessments, develop treatment and care plans, provide appropriate discharge planning and age-appropriate referrals once the young people are ready to transition back into the community
- Provide high level consultation, leadership and advice on complex clinical matters.
- Help to develop the capabilities of the IPU team working with young people experiencing mental illness in the Youth Justice system by providing training and support, including high level consultation, leadership, supervision and professional development.
About You:
- Relevant registration and qualifications (see position description for details)
- Demonstrate experience in the application of clinical practice, particularly in youth mental health
- Knowledge of the youth justice and/or criminal justice system and other relevant settings is desirable.
