Senior Ecologist. Salary – £26,000 – £35,000 depending upon experience and role.

Plus, competitive overtime rates in addition to basic salary for the survey season or TOIL options!

We have a legacy of excellence in bat surveying, mitigation and conservation, and have three case studies included within the new UK Bat Mitigation Guidelines published by CIEEM this year. However, as evidenced by a quick scroll through our LinkedIn feed, the past few years have involved huge diversification of projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Undertaking field surveys for a range of species including GCN, Water Vole, Otter, Natterjack Toad,
    birds, badger and of course, countless bat surveys!
  • Habitat/botanical based surveys i.e. Preliminary Ecological Appraisal in UKHabs, Biodiversity Net
    Gain baseline assessments and habitat management plans
  • Office-based responsibilities including writing up of reports, data searches, uses of the BNG
    Metric and much more
  • Applying and working on EPSML applications for protected species
  • Identification of training opportunities, and the sharing of skills and knowledge with the team
  • Working on your own projects and seeing them through to completion through client liaison
  • Supporting and mentoring other members of the ecology team

Essential Skills & Qualifications:

  • Excellent written skills to produce high standard PRA’s & PEA’s
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Independent working, liaison, time management, planning
  • Undertake variety of protected species surveys
  • Self motivation & desire to learn
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation & policy
  • UK Driving license (also use of company vehicle sub to terms)

Desirable Skills & Qualifications:

  • Protected species licenses
  • Bat identification skills
  • Botanical identification skills
  • Experience using UK Habs
  • Experience competing BNG Metric / Small Sites Metric
  • Experience working on ecology chapters EcIA’s
  • Experience with HRA’s
