The King’s estate is historically important and iconic, consisting of more than 100 buildings ranging in age from the 1780s to the current day. As stewards of the Estate, the Directorate of Estates & Facilities delivers trusted, responsive, and consistent services to its community of students, staff, and partners to enable King’s to serve society and make the world a better place.​ 

The Digital Content Officer post is an exciting opportunity to join the Community Experience Team in Business Services, We are looking for an individual who will bring together a passion for skills in digital content creation along with a commitment to excellent customer service and workplace culture. The post holder will work closely with their colleagues in Community Experience as well as across the directorate, developing and maintaining the directorate’s intranet and internet pages and digital design for various forms of communication.  

This role will suit those who thrive at a fast pace and demanding environment and who has a real completer-finisher mindset that enables them to juggle a varied workload from student facing promotional materials to reports for Senior Leadership teams. 

This post will be offered on an  a fixed-term contract for 12 months 

This is a full-time  post.

Key responsibilities

•        Work with colleagues within the Community Experience team to create an overarching digital communications plan and brand for the directorate to ensure that all digital communications are relevant, timely and engaging  

•        Review and update existing directorate webpages, supporting local teams to ensure webpages are updated and engaging 

•        Inspiring and supporting others to review and adapt content to ensure consistent and customer-centric messaging across the directorate  

•        Create appropriate Directorate and Institutional level content and design for reports and strategy documents  

•        Create appropriate student and staff focused content and design for physical collateral   

•        Stakeholder liaison and management 

•         Support effective use of digital media, including managing content for the intranet, website and social media 

•         Work with Corporate Communications and Brand colleagues to ensure that all content produced is in keeping with King’s brand and style guidelines 

•        Create and deliver engaging online content, using images, gifs, video, infographics 

•        Supporting work by other colleagues within the Community Experience team that improves the customer experience with a particular focus on student engagement, sustainability, safety and Equality, Diversity & Inclusion 

The above list of responsibilities may not be exhaustive, and the post holder will be required to undertake such tasks and responsibilities as may reasonably be expected within the scope and grading of the post.  

Skills, knowledge, and experience 

Essential criteria  

  • Experience of using design software, such as Adobe 
  • Experience with content management software for webpages – ideally Contensis. 
  • Previous experience in a similar role in a large fast-paced organization 
  • Experience and confidence in managing a wide range of stakeholders 
  • Experience of developing and delivering long term communications projects for different audiences and channels, such as annual reports, strategy documents and departmental webpages 
  • Clear communicator with excellent writing, report writing and presentation skills; capable of constructing and delivering clear ideas and concepts concisely and accurately for diverse audiences,  
  • Confident in using Microsoft Office tools – especially Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Forms, Teams and SharePoint 
  • Proven commitment to ongoing professional development
  • Able to encourage, inspire and where needed influence others to achieve great results 
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritise tasks with minimal supervision
