SCHOOL OF CHINESE MEDICINE

TEACHING AND RESEARCH DIVISION

The School of Chinese Medicine (SCM) was established in 1999 and offers comprehensive education programmes in Chinese medicine, including both undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes in Chinese Medicine and Pharmacy in Chinese Medicine. The School is engaged in a wide range of research projects, provides Chinese medicine healthcare services to the community, and seeks to foster modernisation of the Chinese medicine profession. To consolidate the strengths of innovative research, the School has established eight high quality theme-based Research Centres equipped with advanced equipment and facilities. The highlighted strategic research areas in the School include (1) Precision medicine and phenomics study; (2) Translational medicine and innovative drug discovery; and (3) Authentication and testing of Chinese medicines.

Associate Professor / Assistant Professor (23240084)

The School of Chinese Medicine now invites applications for faculty position at the Associate Professor/Assistant Professor level. Candidates with strong Chinese medicine /Western medicine education background and research are invited to join the School. Applicants should possess a PhD or MD degree in biomedical sciences, pharmacological science, or related disciplines. Excellent interpersonal communication and scientific writing skills are required. Preference will be given to candidate with appealing external grant record, outstanding publication and leading potential of innovative therapeutic intervention in chronic diseases such as cancer, metabolic diseases, and/or neurodegenerative diseases. The appointee is expected to teach Chinese medicine/biomedical sciences/pharmacology at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, to establish vigorous research programs in the areas of interest, and to develop research cluster by intra- and inter-programmatic collaborations. Position will be open until filled.

This is a tenure-track position with an initial appointment on a fixed-term contract of two to three years. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement. Tenured appointment is expected to be attained within six years. Outstanding candidate at Associate/Full Professor may be considered for tenure on appointment.

Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
