Position Summary
MSU IT has a meaningful and exciting opportunity for a Network Planning Manager who is self-motivated and customer-focused with great communication skills to join the MSU IT Infrastructure Support team. This role oversees a team responsible for delivery, customer support and enhancement of our core infrastructure investments in switches, access points, administrative (DDI), etc. In this role, you will solve technical problems to deliver solutions for a global research and teaching institution alongside experienced teams of specialized technologists.
Join MSU IT in a pivotal role as the Network Planning Manager, where you will be a crucial part of the Infrastructure Support team. In this capacity, you will supervise a team dedicated to delivering, supporting, and enhancing essential infrastructure components, such as switches, access points, and administrative systems (DDI). Collaborate with experienced teams of specialized technologists to address technical challenges and provide cutting-edge solutions for a global research and teaching institution.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree; and five to eight years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in an information technology area related to the duties to be performed, including experience overseeing large, complex or critical information technology projects; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Desired Qualifications
- At least 5 years of successful project management experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of logical and physical networks and related system technology
- Previous IT supervisory experience preferred.
- Master’s Degree
- Exceptional customer service skills with superior oral and written communication skills necessary to consult with customers, manage projects, conduct presentations, and tactfully manage sensitive situations.
- Must be able to interact with end-users to gather the information necessary to diagnose, address, and document their technology issues.
- The employee must consistently negotiate and act on deliverables and timeframe with stakeholders, and take ownership/responsibility of issues.
